Our team is made up of caring speech-language professionals who support children and families with patience, encouragement, and evidence-based care. We believe therapy works best when families feel heard, supported, and included in the process. CAB brings together clinical experience, family-centered support, and a shared commitment to helping children communicate with confidence.

Donya is the owner and founder of Communicating Above Barriers and a licensed speech-language pathologist with a strong background in education and child development. Before becoming an SLP, she spent 15 years as an elementary educator and became a National Board Certified Teacher.

She is also PROMPT trained/certified and an RBT, giving her a well-rounded perspective across speech, learning, behavior, and school readiness. Donya’s approach is practical, compassionate, and focused on helping children build communication skills that carry into everyday life.

Dawn is the Front Office Manager at Communicating Above Barriers and brings decades of experience supporting schools, families, and administrative operations. Her background in benefits, authorizations, billing, and client support helps families navigate the therapy process with clarity and care.

As a Certified Professional Biller and Certified Professional Coder Apprentice, Dawn helps keep the front office organized and responsive. She is often one of the first points of contact for families and plays an important role in making the experience smoother from the very beginning.

Allison is a licensed Speech-Language Pathology Assistant at Communicating Above Barriers. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration from Florida International University and completed graduate-level training in Communication Sciences and Disorders.
Allison provides engaging, play-based therapy that supports each child’s individual communication needs. She is passionate about making therapy functional, meaningful, and enjoyable while helping children feel comfortable, supported, and motivated to participate.

Kadia is a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant at Communicating Above Barriers with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Central Florida. She supports children in building speech, language, and communication skills through a patient, encouraging, and child-centered approach.

Kadia brings warmth, consistency, and dedication to her work with families. She believes that meaningful progress often happens through small steps, steady support, and helping each child feel confident along the way.

Althea is a dedicated speech-language pathologist with more than 10 years of experience supporting children and families. She earned her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern University and brings both clinical expertise and a strong background in education to her work. As a former teacher and someone who has personally navigated a fluency disorder, Althea approaches therapy with empathy, determination, and a deep belief that every child deserves to be heard. She partners closely with families, providing practical strategies that help children build confidence, make progress, and carry communication skills beyond the therapy session.

Jenna is a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant at Communicating Above Barriers and was born and raised in Fort Myers, Florida. She discovered her passion for speech-language pathology during her first year at the University of South Florida and has been dedicated to helping children communicate with greater confidence ever since. Jenna enjoys making therapy meaningful, supportive, and encouraging for each child she works with. She is currently preparing to begin her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Pennsylvania Western University as she continues pursuing her goal of helping others through communication.
