Getting Started

How do I know if my child needs speech therapy?

If you have concerns about your child’s speech, language, fluency, or overall communication, a screening or evaluation can help determine the next step. A screening is often a quick way to see whether speech therapy may be needed, while a full evaluation provides a more detailed understanding of your child’s needs.

What is a speech and language screening?

A screening is a brief check of your child’s speech and language skills. It is used to help determine whether further evaluation or therapy may be recommended. A screening is not as detailed as a full evaluation and does not replace a comprehensive assessment.

What is the difference between a screening and an evaluation?

A screening is a shorter, less detailed check used to identify whether there may be a concern. An evaluation is a more complete assessment that looks closely at your child’s communication skills and helps guide treatment recommendations.

Do you offer free screenings?

We occasionally offer free screenings at select partner locations or special events. Free screenings are not available at all times and may depend on location, scheduling, and availability.

Do you offer paid screenings?

Yes. Private screenings are available for $25.

When should I choose a screening instead of an evaluation?

A screening may be a good first step if you are unsure whether your child needs speech therapy, or if you want a brief professional check before moving forward with a full evaluation. Screenings can help determine whether further assessment may be recommended.

A full evaluation may be more appropriate when a detailed assessment, formal diagnosis, treatment plan, or documentation is needed.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

In many cases, a referral is not required to begin the process. However, some insurance plans or specific situations may require one.

How do I get started?

You can contact us through our website or by phone. We will help determine whether a screening, evaluation, or another next step is appropriate.

Services

What types of therapy do you provide?

We provide pediatric speech-language therapy for communication needs such as speech sound disorders, language delays, fluency/stuttering, and related areas. Services are individualized based on each child’s needs.

Do you collaborate with other providers?

Yes. When appropriate, we may coordinate with other professionals involved in a child’s care, such as schools, physicians, and therapy providers. This can help support consistency across environments and provide a more complete understanding of the child’s communication needs.

We also have experience collaborating with ABA therapists and other members of a child’s support team when services overlap. Our focus is always on communication and ensuring that strategies are consistent and appropriate across settings.

What ages do you work with?

We work with children of various ages depending on their communication needs and the services being requested.

Do you offer teletherapy?

Yes. We offer virtual therapy when appropriate. Teletherapy availability may depend on your child’s needs, location, and whether virtual services are clinically appropriate.

Do you provide PROMPT therapy?

Yes. We use PROMPT (Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets) when appropriate. PROMPT is a tactile-based approach that uses touch cues to support speech sound production and help children develop more accurate and coordinated movement patterns for speech.

Not every child requires PROMPT, but it can be highly effective for children who need additional support with motor planning and speech clarity.

Do you provide myofunctional therapy?

Yes. We address orofacial myofunctional concerns when appropriate. This may include patterns related to tongue posture, oral habits, and muscle function that can impact speech, swallowing, and overall oral function.

Treatment is individualized and integrated into a child’s overall speech therapy plan when these factors are contributing to communication or functional concerns.

Locations & Scheduling

Where do sessions take place?

Services may be provided at select partner locations, approved service locations, or virtually, depending on availability and scheduling.

Do you provide in-home therapy?

No. We do not provide in-home therapy services.

What areas do you serve?

We serve families across South Florida and Southwest Florida, with virtual support available statewide when appropriate.

How long are therapy sessions?

Therapy sessions are typically 30 minutes.

If you are using insurance, sessions are limited to 30 minutes. We do not offer extended insurance sessions, and sessions cannot be partially billed to insurance and partially paid out of pocket.

Longer sessions may be available only for private-pay clients when clinically appropriate.

How often will my child need therapy?

Frequency depends on your child’s needs, goals, availability, and clinical recommendations.

Evaluations & Therapy

What happens during an evaluation?

A full evaluation looks more closely at your child’s speech, language, and communication skills. The results help determine whether therapy is recommended and guide treatment planning.

Does a screening give my child a diagnosis?

No. A screening is not a full evaluation and does not provide a formal diagnosis. If concerns are identified, a full evaluation may be recommended.

How is progress measured?

Progress is monitored through therapy sessions, goal tracking, clinical observation, and ongoing communication with families.

How long will my child need speech therapy?

Every child is different. The length of therapy depends on the child’s needs, goals, consistency, and response to treatment.

Payment & Insurance

Do you accept insurance?

Insurance options may vary. Please contact us directly so we can discuss your specific situation.

How much do services cost?

Screenings, evaluations, and therapy services may have different costs. Private screenings are currently $25. Evaluation and therapy pricing can be discussed during the intake process.
