Online Speech Therapy for Children in Florida

Communicating Above Barriers provides pediatric teletherapy speech services for children and families across Florida when online therapy is an appropriate fit. Teletherapy allows children to receive speech and language support from home while still focusing on practical communication skills, parent involvement, and meaningful progress in daily routines.

Online speech therapy may support children working on speech clarity, language development, social communication, following directions, expressive language, and family communication goals. Because every child is different, we help families determine whether teletherapy is the right option based on the child’s needs, attention, technology access, and therapy goals.

Teletherapy sessions are designed to be interactive, practical, and family-centered. Depending on the child’s age and goals, sessions may include guided activities, visual supports, play-based interaction, structured language practice, parent coaching, and strategies families can use between sessions.

A Flexible Approach to Speech Therapy

Teletherapy can be a convenient option for many families, but it does not have to exist by itself. Because CAB serves families through local partnerships and select in-person service options, some children may benefit from a hybrid approach that combines online speech therapy with local support when appropriate.

For some families, this may mean teletherapy from home. For others, it may include support through a partner site, school, ABA setting, or community-based location where a supportive adult can help the child participate and carry over strategies. As CAB continues to grow, mobile therapy options may add another layer of access for families who need flexible speech therapy support.

Teletherapy May Include:

Online speech therapy may include speech sound practice, language-building activities, conversation support, vocabulary development, following directions, story-based activities, and parent coaching. Sessions are tailored to the child’s needs and adjusted based on attention, participation, and family goals.

For younger children, teletherapy often works best when a parent or caregiver is available to help with materials, routines, and carryover. For older children, sessions may include more direct interaction with the therapist, structured practice, and home strategies that support progress outside of the session.

Pediatric Teletherapy Speech Services in Florida

Teletherapy can be a helpful option for families who need flexible access to pediatric speech therapy. It may be especially useful for families with busy schedules, families who live farther from in-person service options, or children who are comfortable participating through a screen with support.

Before beginning teletherapy, CAB considers whether online services are appropriate for the child’s goals, participation level, and family setup. When teletherapy is a good fit, sessions focus on building communication skills that carry over into home, school, and daily routines.

Is Teletherapy a Good Fit?

Teletherapy may be a good fit for children who can participate with support, engage with screen-based activities, or benefit from parent-guided strategies at home. Some children do well with direct online interaction, while others need a caregiver nearby to help with attention, materials, and follow-through.

If teletherapy is not the best match, we will be honest about that. The goal is not to force every child into an online model. The goal is to choose the service format that gives the child the best chance to participate and make meaningful progress.

Teletherapy may also work well when a supportive adult is available to help the child participate. This may include a parent, caregiver, teacher, or ABA provider who can help with attention, materials, transitions, and carryover during or after the session. The speech-language pathologist leads the therapy session, while the support person helps the child stay engaged and practice strategies in the setting where communication happens.
